The **suspension bridge is also known as Byorung Bridge**. The bridge was built at a total cost of Rs. 4,843 Crore and was **funded by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) under the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources scheme (NLCPR).** \ This bridge will help in **reducing the distance between Yingkiong and Tuting town by almost 40 km**. The earlier road length was 192 km and this will save a lot of time of the commuters. It is expected that the bridge will **benefit about 20,000 people residing on both sides of the bank of Siang River and will also boost the military preparations and activities.** \ The Central government has also sanctioned the 268 road projects worth Rs. 3,800 Crore under the [Prime Minister’s](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/40277/how-many-prime-ministers-have-been-awarded-the-bharat-ratna-till-date) Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Mr. Khandu also announced about the Rs. 10 Crore for a project to minimize the level of erosion at the river bank at Yingkiong and Tuting.
