The United Nations Office for Risk Reduction-UNDRR awarded Pramod Kumar Mishra the **Sasakawa Award** 2019 for Disaster Risk Reduction. \

Pramod Kumar Mishra helped for a long time for necessary improvement in their capacity to face the problems of the communities affected by the disaster. He did a commendable work towards reducing inequality and poverty by improving the condition of socially and economically backward people, following the important principle of social inclusion. This award of the United Nations is given to any person/institution who plays an active role in disaster risk reduction among its community and is in favor of it. The award was announced in the sixth season of Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction- GPDRR 2019 in Geneva. The theme of the Sasakawa Award for the year 2019 was 'Building Inclusive and Resilient Societies'.
