The **Judicial work** of Andaman & Nicobar is **handled by the Calcutta High Court** which has been the oldest High Court of the country. Including with Calcutta High Court, there have been many other Courts that are maintaining the judicial work of another state as well. The **Union territory status** was accepted by it **in 1956.** India has started to build its army base and defence technology in the **1980s.** Most of the official work is being done by the territory itself but, the High Court of the Union Territory is coming under the Calcutta High Court. Earlier the development was very slow but in recent years, the growth of development in terms of Education, Transportation, Tourism, and scientific fields. \ ## Calcutta High Court Was assumed to be **established on 1st July 1862.** The Calcutta High Court is the **oldest High Court in India** and its roots have witnessed the British period as well. The Court is established in **B.B.D Bag, Calcutta, West Bengal** and the Jurisdiction of the Court is in West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar.
