**Salal power station** is a **run-of-the-river scheme with a 690 MW installed capacity (Stage-I of 3 x 115 MW & Stage-II of 3 x 115 MW)** that utilises **the Chenab River's hydropower** potential. **It is situated in the [Union Territory](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/32054/which-union-territory-has-a-high-court-of-its-own) of Jammu & Kashmir's Reasi district**. The project includes a **rockfill dam with a height of 118 metres and a length of 630 metres**, as well as a concrete dam with **a height of 113 metres and a length of 486.75 metres**, as well as **six penstocks** with a **length of 265 metres and a diameter of 5.23 metres each. The 690 MW surface powerhouse houses six 115 MW units,** each of which is designed to operate at a rated head of **94.5 m and generate 3082 million units in a 90%** dependable year with **95 per cent** machine availability.
