In 1775–1776, **[Thomas Paine](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/34802/what-was-the-title-of-thomas-paine-s-popular-political-pamphlet-written-in-1776-outlining-his-arguments-in-favor-of-american-independence)** produced [Common Sense](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_sense), a **47-page book**. The main objective was to **persuade the public in the 13 Colonies to declare freedom from the Uk**. Paine marshaled political and moral considerations in simple and appealing language to persuade normal folk in the Colonies to struggle for the equitable rule. It was surreptitiously established on January 10, 1776, during the **[American Revolution](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/35361/how-did-the-american-revolution-impact-the-development-of-canada)**, and it was a huge hit right away.

Common Sense publicly released a **compelling and passionate argument for freedom** that had hitherto gone unconsidered in the academic community. Paine framed Common Sense as though it were a lecture, connecting liberty with widespread dissident Protestant convictions to produce a uniquely American national ideology. 'The fiercest and famous pamphlet of the whole republican age,' according to researcher Gordon S. Wood.
