The **first [Civil Rights Act](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/51158/what-was-the-civil-rights-act-of-1964) was passed in 1866, April 9** and titled as **“An Act to protect all Persons in the [United States](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/43449/how-did-the-war-of-1812-affect-the-industrial-development-of-the-united-states) in their Civil Rights and liberties, and furnish the Means of their Vindication”**. The Civil Rights Act was divided into total 10 Sections.

The Civil Rights Act was the first major part of legislation to become a law over the [President’s](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/49777/who-is-the-dalit-president-of-india) Veto.
