College [students](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/93623/which-group-of-students-are-covered-under-cbse-s-new-competence-based-assessment-framework) who became involved in the **counter-culture revolution** did so as a form of resistance against the authority. The **[Civil Rights Movement](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_rights_movement)** was the very first topic that brought them together; they took part in the 1964 **Summer of Freedom in Mississippi**, which intended to enfranchise African Americans. Following the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution in 1964, their focus switched to the **Vietnam War**.
