## Enable

**Using the laptop's Wi-Fi button, turn it on.**

Some laptops contain a **Wi-Fi** connection **On/Off** button or **switch**, similar to the one seen in the image. It's commonly located on the **laptop's front edge** or **just above** the keyboard. Check to see if the button or switch is **turned on**. The button should be **lighted in blue** or the switch should be in the **On position** when activated. \
**In Windows, turn on Wi-Fi.** Look for the **Wi-Fi** or **wireless Internet icon** in the Windows notification area. Right-click the icon with your mouse and choose the option to **enable (or disable)** the Wi-Fi device from the pop-up menu. There may be an option labeled **Open Network and Sharing Center** if the Enable option is not accessible in the pop-up menu. If that's the case, choose this option and then Change **adapter settings**. When the icon for the wireless network card appears, click it. and select enable \
**Disable Wi-Fi on your laptop by pressing the Wi-Fi button.** Some laptops contain a Wi-Fi device On/Off button or switch, similar to the one seen in the image. It's commonly situated on the laptop's **front or above the keyboard**. Check to see if the button or switch is **turned off**. When disabled, the button should not be lit or should be **illuminated in orange or red**, and the switch should be turned off. \
**In Windows, disable it.** \
Select Disable (or Turn off) from the pop-up menu when right-clicking the Wi-Fi symbol in the Windows notification area. There may be an option **labeled Open Network** and **Sharing Center** if there is no Disable option in the pop-up menu. If that's the case, choose this option and then Change adapter settings. Right-click on the wireless network card icon and select Disable.
