There are instances when the **iOS crashes** for no apparent reason, and the device freezes as a result. Owners who aren't used to it or haven't had a situation like this before may become panicked, even though there's no cause to be. The interesting part is that when they bring their phone to the shop, it only takes a minute for it to start up again in the hands of a technician, and they're like 'OMG!' 'How did you pull that off?' This is how technicians deal with problems like this...

1. For **15 to 20 seconds**, press and **hold the Volume Down button** and the Power key (sleep/wake button) simultaneously.
2. The white [Apple](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/86701/story-of-foxconn-a-key-manufacturer-of-apple-products-iphones) logo will appear if there is enough battery left to **turn the iPhone on.**
3. When this happens, let go of both keys and wait for the device to **completely reboot.**

This is referred to as a **Soft Reset.** It's hardwired into the phone, so pressing and holding the relevant keys should cause the phone to **restart.**
