**compel a restart** If the problem is caused by small software flaws and problems, forcing your **iPhone to restart** may be the only way to solve it. To force a restart on the iPhone 7, **press and hold the Power** and Volume Down buttons at the same time for at least 20 seconds, or until the device power cycles. This won't wipe your iPhone's data, so it's a **safe and effective method**, to begin with. \
**Update iOS to the most recent version.** \
Apple provides iOS upgrades on a regular basis that include numerous patches for existing software flaws and other issues that impact iOS devices. Go to **Settings**-> **General**-> **Software** Upgrade to see whether an iOS update for your **iPhone 7** is available. If an update is available, select Download.
