A **forced restart** is the first recommended remedy to a stopped display on a mobile device, as well as unexpected reboots. It's a simulated battery removal technique that operates in the same way as a normal restart or soft reset, but with hardware key combinations instead. As long as you perform it correctly, it has no effect on any of your vital data or personal information saved on your iPhone's internal memory. To begin, here's how to force your iPhone 8 Plus to restart: \

1. **Quickly press** and **release the Volume Up button.**
2. Then, swiftly push and **release the Volume Down button.**
3. Finally, for a few seconds or until the Apple logo shows, **press and hold the Side/Power button.**

If you have many background programs running and will be able to use them after the **forced restart**, close all of them to ensure that none of them are causing a problem. \
