The ultimate remedy may be to **uninstall the software**. This is frequently required, especially when faulty cache files are cause. Simply follow these steps: \

1. For a few seconds, **hold down the Messenger app icon** or any other icon on the Home screen.
2. When the icons start jiggling, **tap the X in the upper-right corner** of the Messenger app icon. The software will be deleted or uninstalled from your device as a result.
3. To confirm the operation, **press the Delete button.**
4. Tap on an empty place on the Home screen to stop the icons from moving.
5. After that, **restart your phone.**
6. Wait until [your iPhone](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/50411/what-to-do-if-your-iphone-x-can-t-be-detected-by-computer) has completely **booted up** before opening the App Store and searching for the most recent version of the Messenger app to download and **install on your device.**
