Because iOS is such a complex software system, developers can't possibly predict everything. However**, updates** are typically given to enhance things, implement new features, or repair known flaws. Any or all of these features are often included in both minor and major iOS releases, so there's no reason to skip them. \
An iOS device is designed to **download and install updates** automatically by default, but if you altered it before, make sure you manually check for any pending updates for your device. \
If at all feasible, **update your device via iTunes**. This will not only save you from using up your valuable data allocation, but it is also a better alternative than over-the-air in general.
