**A forced restart** simulates the removal of the battery. It functions similarly to a soft reset or a conventional restart, but exclusively via the hardware keys. When dealing with software issues that cause the iPhone to freeze or become unresponsive to touches, this restart is suggested. The **iPhone X,** unlike earlier iPhones, does a forced restart in a unique method. To begin with, here's how it's done:

1. **Press and release the Volume Up** button quickly.
2. Then tap and **hold the Volume Down button** for a few seconds.
3. Finally, **hold down the Side/Power button** until you see the Apple logo.

You may need to press and hold the Side/Power button for a long time (approximately 30 seconds) until the Apple logo appears on the screen. A **forced restart** will not wipe any of your vital data from the internal memory, therefore it's a safe method to start with.
