**Soft resetting,** also known as restarting, is a quick and sometimes efficient technique to address mysterious faults including iPhone crashes, odd reboots, freezing, missed alerts, keypad freezes, and, in your case, an unresponsive screen. Restart works by erasing the operating system and the memory of a device. It operates in the same way as your computer's restart function does when it has been idle for a long period. Here's how you can do it if you haven't already: \

1. **Hold down the Power/Side** and one of the Volume buttons at the same time (either Volume Up or Volume Down).
2. When the **Slide to power off screen shows,** release the buttons.
3. Right-click the **Power switch.**
4. Allow for a r**eboot of the gadget.**
5. After your iPhone has turned off, press and hold the Power/Side button until you see the Apple logo, then release it.
