- With Ethernet, **you may connect two [computers](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/50250/what-are-the-ways-to-fix-the-blue-screen-errors-of-your-computer-s-windows) without a hub, switch**, or existing network by using a crossover connection. Ethernet cables with the send and receive wires (pins) switched throughout the length of the cable are known as crossover cables. The pins that send data from one computer are linked to the pins that receive data from the other computer. The switching is handled through Ethernet.
- Many stores that specialise in computer equipment and cabling sell crossover cables, but you won't find one in a department store with a modest electronics section. Make sure it's clearly labelled as a crossover cable when you buy it, because a regular Ethernet cable won't work for connecting.
