It's an unusual problem that **Windows XP** doesn't auto-detect serial and parallel ports. You must test the bios to ensure that they are truly in the enabled country and have already been assigned resources. In the case of a modem, you will require driver software; therefore, look for driver software and specify one for it. The device manager is the location from which you can gain access to and discover the driver's enabled or disabled country, as well as any missing items.
