**Browser extensions**, plug-ins, and add-ons are all software components that enhance the functionality of an existing computer application. This might be a standalone program or a feature of a web browser. **A browser extension, for example,** extends the functionality of a web browser by installing specialized toolbars, adding buttons or links, or offering other helpful capabilities such as pop-up blocking.
