Your computer should be restarted. Sometimes you're lucky, and the simplest answer solves the most difficult of issues. If **restarting** the computer doesn't work, you'll need to move on to more sophisticated repairs. \

- **Examine the USB port** for any debris. When you don't have a device plugged in, these ports are wide open, making it easy for debris, such as dust or food, to become stuck inside.
- If you **detect something trapped inside,** turn off your computer and use a thin plastic or wooden object like a toothpick to carefully remove the impediment.
- A device like canned air may be effective in clearing clogs from a USB port in some instances. Just make sure you **don't push the impediment** in any deeper.

## Last Option

**Change the USB cord** you're using. Because USB cable failures are more prevalent than USB port failures, make sure you have a spare cable on hand. If your gadget suddenly begins to operate, the issue was most likely a damaged wire within the other cord.
