**Remove Peripheral Hardware and Force a Shutdown** You have no choice except to **force a shutdown** if your machine displays the grey screen. To make sure it's truly turned off, **press and hold the power button.** \
**Remove all peripheral devices** connected to your computer once it has turned off, such as external speakers, Bluetooth, and USB flash drives. After that, **restart your computer.**
