- If you're using a [**DSL**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/96854/what-you-do-suppose-if-dsl-pppoe-software-does-not-work-with-macintosh-computers) or cable modem, ensure sure it's connected to both the telephone or cable connector and the wide area network (WAN) port on the base station.
- On your Mac, go to the Utilities folder in the Applications folder and open the AirPort Utility software.
- Select the base station you want to configure in the graphical overview, then click Edit. A password for the base station may be required.
- **Select PPPoE** from the Connect Using pop-up option after clicking Internet.
- Enter your ISP's account name, password, and any other information they provided you with)
- Optionally, customise the PPPoE connection type by selecting an option from the PPPoE Connection pop-up menu by clicking the Internet Options button towards the bottom of the pane:
- Always On: If you want your base station to keep connected to your modem and the Internet as long as the modem is turned on, select Always On.
- Choose a time increment, such as 10 minutes, from the PPPoE Disconnect if Idle pop-up option if you chose an Automatic or Manual PPPoE connection and want your base station to automatically disconnect if it's not in use.
- To save your changes and close the conversation, click Save, and then Update to save the changes.
