**PVST+ (Per-VLAN Spanning Tree**)—PVST+ is a Cisco addition to STP that creates a distinct 802.1D spanning-tree instance for each VLAN in the network. \
IEEE 802.1w defines the **Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP**). It is an STP evolution that allows for quicker convergence than STP.
