- **Compress a file or folder by using the following steps**: Control-click o**r two-finger-tap it**, then select Compress from the **shortcut menu.**

   - When you compress a single thing, the compressed file is named after the original item and has the.zip extension. The compressed file is named **Archive.zip** if you compress numerous things at once.
