Conservative **MP Enoch Powell** delivered a harrowing speech in **Birmingham in 1968** condemning immigration throughout the **United Kingdom**. The speech titled **'Rivers of Blood'** was labeled as **'evil.'** Powell was kicked out of the Shadow Cabinet as a result, and many immigrants felt endangered in the country they had embraced as their home. Powell became a figure of derision as well as ardent admiration.
