He was an Indian origin player and represented the West Indies team in 79 International Test Matches. During the era of the **1960s, he was considered one of the best batsmen**. He was even considered as the player who was mainly responsible for the growth and quality cricket show of West Indies team at that time. In **May 1992, he was assigned as the Coach but his working period was not assigned by the authorities**, so he **voluntarily resigned from the post in 1995**. He did this so that, Andy Roberts could take over him. In his overall career, **he scored total 6,227 runs in 79 Test.
