He and his **brother Vijay Amritraj** led India into the **Davis Cup finals against [South Africa](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39272/who-has-been-sworn-in-as-new-president-of-south-africa) in 1974**, and he was a member of the **Indian team captained by Vijay Amritraj that reached the Davis Cup final against Sweden in 1987.**

**Anand Amritraj, along with his younger brothers Vijay and Ashok**, were among the **[first Indians](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/62206/who-was-the-first-indian-to-win-an-academy-award)** to compete on the **international tennis tour**. **Anand and Vijay were semifinalists in the men's doubles at Wimbledon in 1976**. He returned to the final in 1987 against Sweden.**

**Stephen Amritraj**, his son, is a **former professional tennis player in the United States who has also represented India**. He attended Don Bosco School and graduated from **Loyola College** in **Madras.**

In **1985, Anand Amritraj was named one of the Arjuna Awardees in Tennis.**
