**VP Singh (25th June 1931 – 27th November 2008)** was the **7th Prime Minister of India** from **2nd December 1989 to 10th November 1990**. Born in **Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India** (earlier Allahabad was under **United Provinces British** before independence) VP Singh was the first Science & Technology Minister of India. He was from **Janata Dal** party. VP Singh was the **Chief Minister** of Uttar Pradesh from **9th June 1980 to 19th July 1982**. VP Singh held the **Ministry of Finance from 31st December 1984 to 23rd January 1987** under Prime Minister **Rajiv Gandhi**. VP Singh also served as the **Minister of Defence** twice from **24th January 1987 to 12th April 1987** and from **2nd December 1989 to 10th November 1990** under Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
