**Moti Bagh Palace** is located in **Patiala, Punjab, India**. It is a palace in Patiala which was built in the **1840s** **(the old quarters)** by the **Maharaja of Patiala**. The palace was expanded during the reign of **Maharaja Bhupinder Singh**. The palace was expanded under the supervision of **Sir Ganga Ram** in the **1920s**. The Government of India took **charge** of the palace and converted it into a **museum** after independence. **Old Moti Bagh Palace** is now the seat of **North Zone Cultural Centre**. To the east wing of the palace is situated the **National Institute of Sports (NIS)**. The **annual Patiala Heritage festival** is celebrated here. The **New Moti Bagh Palace** is the residence of the **Chief Minister of Punjab (Maharaja Patiala Captain Amarinder Singh)**.

**Captain Amarinder Singh (born on March 11th, 1942)** an Indian politician from Indian National Congress is the **26th Chief Minister of Punjab.** He assumed office on **16th March 2017**. He was the **Member of Parliament from 26th May 2014 to 23rd November 2016** representing **Amritsar**. He was the **Captain** of the **Sikh Regiment** in the **Indian Army** from **1963 to 1965**. Captain Amarinder Singh is also the **chairman of Punjab Urdu Academy**.
