Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was born on **29th January 1970** in **Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India**. He belongs to the **Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP)**. He represents **Jaipur** as a **Member of Parliament** and assumed office on **16th May 2014**. Colonel Rathore served in the **Indian Army** and retired at the rank of **Colonel**. He was a member of the **9th Grenadiers**. Colonel Rathore was the **Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting** from **9th November 2014 to 14th May 2018** under **Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi**. Colonel Rathore assumed office on **14th May 2018** as **Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Information and Broadcasting** under Prime Minister Modi.

Colonel Rathore represented **India** in various sports event related to shooting. He won the **silver medal** in the **men’s double trap** shooting competition at the **2004 Athens Olympics**. He has also won medals for the country in **Commonwealth Games** and **Asian Games**. Colonel Rathore won **gold medals** in the **2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games** in **double trap individual** and **double trap pairs** events respectively. In the **2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games**, he won a **gold medal** in the **double trap individual** category and a **silver medal** in the **double trap pairs** category. In the **2006 Doha Asian Games**, Colonel Rathore won the **silver medal** in **double trap teams** category and a **bronze medal** in the **double trap individual** event. Colonel Rathore received the **Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM)**, a **military award** given for exceptional service to the nation. Colonel Rathore received the **Arjuna Award** in **2003-2004**. In **2004-2005** Colonel, Rathore was bestowed with the **Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award (the highest sporting honour of India)**. Colonel Rathore received the **Padma Shri (fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India)** in the year **2005**.
