**Bhim Sen Sachar** was the **second [Chief Minister](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/83514/up-chief-minister-yogi-adityanath-expresses-his-concern-over-population) of Punjab**. Bhim Sen Sachar served as the Chief Minister of Punjab **twice**. On the **first occasion** he held the office from **13th April 1949 to 18th October 1949** and on the second occasion, Mr Sachar held the office from **17th April 1952 to 23rd January 1956**.

Bhim Sen Sachar was born on **1st December 1894** in **Peshawar, Punjab, British India** (now in **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan**). Mr Sachar belonged to the **Indian National Congress (INC)** party. He joined the political party at a young age. After India gained independence he became an important member of the Congress party and in **1949** was chosen to serve as the Chief Minister of Punjab. Mr Sachar was an Indian politician and served as the **Governor of Odisha** from **1956 to 1957**. He was also the **Governor of Andhra Pradesh** from **1957 to 1962**. Bhim Sen Sachar passed away at the age of **83** on **18th January 1978**.

**Punjab** an Indian state lies to the northern part of the country. There are **22 districts** in Punjab with **Ludhiana** being the largest city. **Captain Amarinder Singh** from **Indian National Congress (INC)** is the **Chief Minister** of the state. Punjab is a **unicameral legislature** with **117 seats** and **13 Parliamentary constituencies**. **V P Singh Badnore** is the **Governor of the state**. The total population of the state as per the **2011 census** is **27,704,236**. Punjabi is being spoken by the inhabitants of the state.
