As per the **2011 population census**, the overall **literacy [rate](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/105055/how-to-use-the-rate-of-change-indicator)** in **Punjab** is **75.84 %**. The **female literacy rate** in Punjab is **70.73 %** and the **male literacy rate** in the state is **80.44 %**. As compared to the male literacy rate in India the male literacy rate in Punjab is slightly **less** while the female literacy rate in Punjab is **better** than the female literacy rate in India. The **male** and **female literacy rate** in **India** as per the 2011 census is **80.90 %** and **64.60 %** respectively.

**Punjab** an Indian state lies to the northern part of the **country**. Punjab is a unicameral legislature with **117 seats** and **13 Parliamentary constituencies**. **V P Singh Badnore** is the **Governor** of the state. The total population of the state as per the 2011 census is **27,704,236**. Punjabi is being spoken by the inhabitants of the state.
