A [Bill](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_(law)) is a **provision for new legislation** or a **change to an existing law** that is presented to Parliament for debate. Bills are introduced for **[investigation](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/93171/recently-the-supreme-court-has-given-a-decision-the-cbi-agency-related-to-the-investigation-process-in-any-state), discussion, and modification** in either the House of Commons or the House of Lords. A Bill is delivered to the reigning **monarch for confirmation** once both Houses have agreed on its text (known as Royal Assent). When a Bill receives Royal Assent, it becomes an [Act of Parliament](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/93645/can-the-parliament-of-india-be-considered-as-a-sovereign-body) and becomes law. \
Bills can be introduced by a variety of parties, including the **government and individual Lords MPs and, individuals or groups** in the [private sector](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39602/the-private-sector-bank-which-has-become-the-first-indian-bank-to-cross-rs-5-trillion-in-market-capitalisation-at-bombay-stock-exchange-bse). Bills are divided into three categories: public, private, and hybrid. There is also a type of public bill known as a **Private Member's Bill**. \
