After India's first national election on April 17, 1952, the [First Lok Sabha](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1st_Lok_Sabha) was formed. The 1st Lok Sabha was disbanded on **April 4, 1957**, after serving its entire five-year term. The Lok Sabha's first session began on May 13, 1952. The [Lok Sabha](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94230/who-was-the-person-to-speak-against-the-muslim-woman-protection-of-rights-on-divorce-bill-in-the-lok-sabha-but-voted-for-it) must have both **elected and non-elected officers**, according to Article 93 of the Indian Constitution. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker are elected members, whereas the Secretariat staff are non-elected members. The officials and other prominent members of the 1st Lok Sabha were next. \

Independents came in second, with a maximum of 37 seats won. With 16 and 12 seats, the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Socialist Party of India (India) came in second and third, respectively. In this election, the [Indian National Congress](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/92881/how-the-indian-national-congress-lost-india) received 45 percent of the vote and won 76 percent of the 479 seats up for grabs.
