The **2018 ASEAN-INDIA Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD)** was held at **Marina Bay Sands, Singapore**. The event was held from **6th January 2018 – 7th January 2018**.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is a celebratory day observed by the **Republic of India** on **9th January**. This day is celebrated to mark the **contribution** of the Indian community who are residing abroad to the **welfare and development** of India. This day is also termed as **Non- Resident Indian Day**. 9th January has a historical significance in Indian History, as it was this day when **Mahatma Gandhi** returned from **South Africa** in **1915** to be a part of the **Indian freedom struggle**. The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is celebrated in **India**.

The event is organized by the **Ministry of External Affairs** of the **Government of India** in collaboration with **Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, the Confederation of Indian Industries** and the **Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI)**. A forum known as **Indian Diaspora** is organized. The forum deals with the issue concerning the Indians living overseas. **Pravasi Bharatiya Awards** are also given during the event. The event is held **annually** on 9th January but after the revision of the format of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas by the Indian Government, the event will be held every **two** years. The **first** Pravasi Bhartiya Divas was held in **2003** in **New Delhi**.
