It is an **American animal rights** organization with its headquarters at **Norfolk, Virginia, United States**. The main focus of the organization is animal rights with the slogan **“Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way”**. The organization got attention in the summer of **1981** with the **Silver Spring monkey’s case** where experiments were being conducted on **17** monkeys inside the **Institute of Behavioral Research** in **Silver Spring, Maryland**.
