Former **Chief Minister** of **Gujarat Anandiben Patel** has been appointed the **Governor** of **Madhya Pradesh**. Anandiben Patel assumed office as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh on **23rd January 2018** succeeding **Om Prakash Kohli** who was handling the additional charge as Governor of Madhya Pradesh since **September 2016**.

Anandiben Patel was born on **21st November 1941** at **Kharod, Bombay Presidency, British India (now in Gujarat India)**. Anandiben Patel belongs to the **Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)**. Anandiben Patel was the **15th Chief Minister of Gujarat**. She succeeded **Narendra Modi** who is now the **Prime Minister** of **India**. Anandiben Patel served as the 15th Chief Minister of Gujarat from **22 May 2014** to **7th August 2016**. She represented **Ghatlodiya** constituency in the **Gujarat Legislative Assembly**. Anandiben Patel was the Member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from **2002** to **2017** representing Ghatlodiya constituency. She also represented **Mandal** Constituency from **1998** to **2002** as a Member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Anandiben Patel served as the **Member of Parliament** from **1994** to **1998**. She represented the state of **Gujarat** in the **Rajya Sabha (the Council of States or the upper house of the parliament)**. At present Anandiben Patel is handling the additional charge as **Governor** of **Chattisgarh** succeeding **Balram Das Tandon**. She assumed office as Governor of Chattisgarh on **15th August 2018**.

She handled the **Ministry of Revenue, Disaster Management and Capital Project, Roads & Buildings, Women & Child Welfare, Urban Development and Urban Housing** in the **Government of Gujarat** under Chief Minister Narendra Modi from **2007** to **2014**.
