## Overview

India is a country that provides only one citizen to their Citizens which has been **adopted from the United Kingdome** or we can say from the **British constitution**. It also has been a disputable topic that being the dual governmental nature as Central and state why India does not have Dual citizenship? \

## Single citizenship

The constitution of India has never identified the term ‘**Citizen**’ but in many articles, it has defined the many types of people in **[articles 5 to 11 in part 2 of the constitution.](https://www.mea.gov.in/Images/pdf1/Part2.pdf)** Citizenship is listed in the Union List under the constitution of India and thus it also covers under the parliament of India. Many articles and provisions of the Indian Constitution have come in the effect on 26th January 1950 but the above article related to citizenship was enacted just after the making of the **constitution on 26 November 1949.** \

**Article 5 of the Indian Constitution** The above article has the provision related to the commencement of the constitution and said that anyone born in India and has been the domicile of India will be given citizenship of the co8untry. **\** **Article 6** The above article tells about the provision for giving citizenship to the migrators of India-Pakistan. **\** **Article 7 of the constitution** This article has the provision related to the rights of citizenship of certain migrants who came from Pakistan. **\** **Article 8** This article tells about the provisions that are related to the rights that have been given the persons who are residing outside the nation but, was born in India. \
