Justice Ramalingam Suhakar **became the 5th Chief Justice of High Court of [Manipur](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/38149/name-the-former-manipur-chief-minister-and-veteran-congress-leader-who-died-at-the-age-of-98-following-multiple-organ-failure)**. Justice Ramalingam Suhakar belongs from Panapakkam Village in the Vellore District. He completed his **Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola College, Chennai** and done his **Law Degree from ‘Madras Law College’**. As an advocate, he started his practice career in 1983, as an Associate of Legal Luminary and Senior Advocate Habibullah Badsha. Habibullah was the former Advocate General of [Tamil Nadu](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39606/tamil-nadu-chief-minister-edappadi-k-palanichamy-was-presented-with-which-award-for-the-cultural-heritage) and a Public Prosecutor of Madras High Court. The Chief Justice of the [High Court](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/32899/what-is-indian-high-courts-act-1861) of Manipur is elected by the President of India with the confirmation of Chief Justice of India and the Governor of the respective state. The **High Court of Manipur was established in March 2013**. **The amendments in the [Constitution of India](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/44796/constitution-of-india-came-into-effect-from) were implemented for the North-Eastern Areas Re-organization Act, 1971.** So, after the amendment in the constitution, **the first Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur was Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre**. Before the amendment and the establishment of High Court of Manipur, the [Guwahati](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/44764/what-is-the-fee-structure-of-iit-guwahati) High Court was used to have jurisdiction over the state of Manipur.
