**Anirban Lahiri (born on 29th June 1987)** an Indian professional **golfer** was presented with the **2015 Asian tour’s order of merit crown**. He is the **4th Indian golfer** to win this award.

Anirban Lahiri born in **Pune, Maharashtra, India** plays on **the European tour, Asian tour, PGA tour**.

Lahiri learned to play golf from his father at the age of **eight**. Lahiri turned professional in the year **2007**. In 2008 he joined **the Asian tour** and his first victory came at **Panasonic open in 2011**. His maiden overseas win on **the Asian tour CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters** brought his best finish on the order of merit in **2014**.

As per **official world golf ranking**, Lahiri improved his ranking and entered the top **100** club in **March 2014**.

Lahiri's **first** official win came at **Maybank Malaysian Open** on **the European tour** in **February 2015**. He defeated **Bernd Wiesberger** from **Austria**. In the latter half of the same month, Lahiri won **the hero Indian open** played at **Delhi golf club New Delhi India** by defeating fellow countrymen **Shiv Chawrasia**. This was his **second** win on the European tour. Following this two major wins, Lahiri broke into the **top 50** of the **official world golf** **ranking** and simultaneously qualified for the 2015 Masters tournament.

He is the **third** Indian national after **Jeev Milka Singh** and **Arjun Atwal** to play in **the Masters tournament**. He was labeled as **“the new face of Indian golf”** and **“a rookie to watch”**.

Lahiri finished at the **fifth** place with a score of -13 at **the PGA Championship** held at **Whistling Straits** in **August 2015**. He set a new record for the highest finish by an Indian professional golfer in a major event. Lahiri jumped up to the **38th** place in the official world golf ranking after this impressive performance.

Lahiri was the **first** Indian to be named in the **2015 Presidents cup squad**. He is the **first** Indian to receive this honour. His overall **professional wins counts to 18** including **two** European tour wins and **seven** Asian tour wins.
