**Talimeren Ao was India’s first Football captain and he was given the captaincy armband for the national team in the year 1948.** He was the captain of the **Indian football team in the summer Olympics** which were held in the year 1948 a year after India got freedom from the British rule.

**Born on 28 January 1918 in Assam to Subongwati Ningdangri Ao and his wife Maongsangla Changkilari.** Talimeren Ao joined the Mohun Bagan which was the Calcutta Football league and captained the Green and Maroon in the year 1948 and 1949.\
**Talimeren was a striker in the Maharana Club but as after he joined the Maharana club of Guwahati** he was assigned to the defense position. Talimeren Ao was the center half along with two backs and they were **popularly known as the Great Wall of China as they were the best in defense.**
