**Amrita Pritam (**31 August 1919 – 31 October 2005) was an eminent Indian novelist, essayist, and poet, who wrote in Punjabi and Hindi language. She is considered the first distinguished woman [Punjabi poet](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/44954/which-punjabi-poet-of-british-era-in-india-wrote-vagade-pani), novelist, essayist and the [leading](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/80930/russia-saudi-arabia-coalition-leading-opec-to-down-level) twentieth-century poet of the [Punjabi language](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/44924/when-the-punjabi-university-was-established-to-teach-technology-software-development-cyber-knowledge-etc-in-punjabi-language), who's perfectly portrayed her views on each aspect of the India–[Pakistan](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/85549/why-pakistan-s-isi-is-reviving-khalistan-groups) border. \
