> **Experts suggest that it is larger than Mohenjo-Daro. Archaeologists have declared the Harappan [location](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2574/twitter-conveniently-reveals-a-location-sharing-policy-amid-elonjet-controversy) of Rakhigarhi in the Hisar region, Haryana, to be the largest [Harappan civilization](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/86380/india-s-industrialization-a-journey-from-harappan-civilization-to-modern-times) location after the finding of 2 extra mounds in January.**

[Rakhigarhi,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rakhigarhi) also [known as](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/37898/the-speaker-can-ask-a-member-of-the-house-to-stop-speaking-and-let-another-member-speak-this-is-known-as) Rakhi Garhi, is a hamlet in the Hisar [District of Haryana](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/38494/which-district-of-haryana-has-been-renamed-as-gurugram-by-the-haryana-government), India, located 57 kilometers northwest of Hisar city. It later became a [component](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12262/learn-how-to-make-a-component-in-magento-2) of the developed [Indus Valley Civilisation,](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/34189/which-was-the-largest-site-of-indus-civilization) which lasted from 2600 to 1900 BCE. The location lies 27 kilometers from the yearly Ghaggar River in the Ghaggar-Hakra River plain. Most experts estimate it to be between 80 and 100 hectares in size. However, several Indian historians argue that Rakhigarhi's [oldest civilizations](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/story/2868/oldest-civilizations-in-the-world) predate the [Indus Valley Civilization](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/34190/which-was-the-largest-indian-site-of-indus-civilization) and that the location is 300 acres in size. \

Only 5% of the site has been explored, and much more remains to be discovered and released. Mitathal and the minor location Lohari Ragho are two more nearby excavation locations that have yet to be excavated.
