**The State Bank of India (SBI)** and **NABARD** have consented to an arrangement with **5 NGOs in Bengal** for the advancement of **2,500 Joint Liability Groups (JLGs)** in select areas of the State on **January 2, 2018**. JLGs are casual gatherings of 4-10 individuals occupied with comparative financial activities and willing to together embrace the duty to reimburse credits taken by the group from a bank.

They are commonly known to be credit groups of a minute or peripheral share farmers who don't have a legitimate title of their farmland. Through these JLGs, SBI intends to stretch out help to the monetarily prohibited segments of the general public, particularly landless agriculturists in the locale of **Purulia**, **Paschim Medinipur**, **Purba Medinipur**, **Burdwan** and **North 24 Parganas**.
