It can be produced by fermenting the degradable substances also referred as Substrate by the actions of **microorganisms** during the process which happens in the concealed digester or a chamber in the absence of the atmospheric oxygen. It is formed of variant gases, of which majorly **methane (CH4)** and **Carbon Dioxide (CO2)** and its composition in the traces includes **Hydrogen (H2)**, **Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S)** and **Moisture (H2O)** etc. The improved digesters which are been used for anaerobic digestion capable of producing biogas with **65%-75%** content o**f methane (CH4)**. The ratio in which the mixture of methane and carbon dioxide exists in cow dung is of the ratio **60:40**. It has various applications like lighting, generation of electricity, cooking, making auto fuel and operating engines. The fundamental and basic utilization of biogas created from a residential digester is for cooking reason in houses. Biogas can be purified and overhauled as per the guidelines of petroleum gas.
