**The first women teacher of India was Savtribai Jyotirao Phule, born on 3rd January 1831 Savitri bai was an Indian social reformer and poet.** Along with her husband she founded the first girl’s school in Pune, India at the time when British ruled our country.

She contributed a lot and put a lot of effort in empowering women in India and played a key role in improving the rights of women in India. \
**In 1848 when she started the first girl’s school she herself was its first teacher. She along with her husband Jyotirao Phule opened up a care center which is renowned as Balhatya Pratibandhak Griha.**
