**Kandla Port trust which is located on the Gulf of Kutch in Gujrat has been renamed as Deendayal Port trust.** Shipping ministry issued a notification stating that Kandla Port Trust has been renamed as Deendayal Port Trust.

**It was officially done on 25th of September 2017,** it is one **of the major 12 ship port across India**.

**Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi himself gave the suggestion of renaming** this port the moto of changing **the name is to honor Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay who contributed much of his life in uplifting the poor people.**
