The **automotive abbreviation** stands for the antilock braking system. **ABS** is **an automobile safety system** that permits the wheels on a motorcar to keep up friction contact with the paved surface per driver inputs whereas braking, preventing the wheels from lockup up (ceasing rotation) and avoiding uncontrolled skidding.
