**Lt Gen Vinod Vashisht** is the newly appointed **Director General** of **National Cadet Corps (NCC)** *(He was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery in June 1979)*. He is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College, Higher Command Course and National Defence College. Prior to this appointment, he was the **Commandant at Officers Training Academy** at Gaya, Bihar. He succeeded **Lt Gen A Chakravarty**, who retired on **August 31, 2016**. On **23 December 2016** **Lt Gen Vinod Vashisht** took over the reins of National Cadet Corps (NCC) as its Director General. \
