- The **equity market** is a place where companies' stocks and shares are traded. Either over the counter or on stock exchanges, equities are traded in an equity market. An equity market, also known as a stock market or a share market, allows sellers and buyers to trade equity or shares on the same platform.
- The shares given to ordinary investors through initial public offerings (IPOs) are known as the **primary equity** market. The shares of a firm are listed on the stock exchange once the initial public offering (IPO) is completed. The NSE and BSE are the two primary stock exchanges that facilitate stock trading.
- If you missed out on buying stock in a firm during its initial public offering (IPO), you can buy and sell shares in the **secondary market**. Here, you decide on an entrance and exit point for your investment.
