# When Should I Use Claude Projects Instead of a Custom GPT?

I’m trying to choose a workspace for a small research and writing project, and I’m unsure whether to set it up in [Claude Projects](https://answers.mindstick.com/blog/428/how-to-work-with-existing-projects-using-claude-code) or create a [custom GPT](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/162450/what-happens-to-a-custom-gpt-when-its-creator-leaves-a-chatgpt-workspace). Both seem capable of working with instructions and reference material, but I don’t know how much the day-to-day experience differs.

For people who have used both, what matters most in the choice: keeping project files and context organized, sharing the tool with other people, or connecting it to a particular workflow? I’m especially interested in where **Claude Projects** feel more convenient and when a **custom GPT** is the better fit.
